Welcome to the corner of the shop Google won’t advertise.
Every product on this page is something Google’s Shopping algorithm has decided is too spicy, too political, or too dangerous for its precious network. A magnet that says “vote.” A rainbow. A sticker about reading books. A bottle opener with some veneer glued to it. All flagged. All disapproved. All shipped from Ohio by a guy with apparently terrible judgment.
The way Google sees it:
- Bottle openers - basically the same as selling tequila to a toddler. Cannot possibly be advertised in a Christian country.
- Pride designs - “sensitive social issue.” The sensitive part is apparently the existence of gay people.
- Voting designs - democracy: too political for the platform whose entire revenue model is political advertising.
- Banned books stickers - a sticker that says “read banned books” is, somehow, more controversial than the people doing the banning.
- “Reading causes empathy” - flagged. Empathy: now a sensitive social issue. Cool country we’re running here.
- “No room for hate” - apparently, “against hate” is taking a side. Bold of them to admit which side they are on.
So instead of begging an ad bot to take our money, we built it its own little collection.
