Wood & Sterling Silver Bar Necklace, Horizontal Metal Inlay
✦ Handmade in Ohio
✦ Free Shipping over $50
$40.00
A horizontal wood bar with a fine line of metal inlaid across it, hung from two points on a sterling silver chain so it sits level and centered. Choose your wood and whether the inlay is sterling silver or brass.
Materials and craft
I cut each bar from solid hardwood, rout a channel, and inlay the metal by hand so it finishes flush with the grain. The two-point sterling silver chain keeps the bar horizontal and steady. Every piece is sanded smooth, sealed with food-safe oil and beeswax, and made in my one-person studio in Hamilton, Ohio.
Details
- Pendant: horizontal wood bar, approximately 2 inches wide
- Inlay: your choice of sterling silver or brass, set into the wood
- Wood: nine options, Canarywood, Cedar, Cherry, Maple, Olivewood, Orangeheart, Purpleheart, Redheart, Walnut
- Chain: sterling silver, hung from two points so the bar sits level
- Finish: food-safe oil and beeswax
- Made to order: cut and finished after you order, ships in 3 to 5 business days
- Packaging: ships on a plantable seed paper card; add a gift box at checkout and it still ships on the seed paper
- Made in: Hamilton, Ohio
Care
Keep it dry when you can and wipe it with a soft cloth. If the wood looks dry over time, refresh it with a drop of food-safe mineral oil or my Wood Butter.
A wood anniversary keepsake
Wood is the traditional fifth-anniversary gift, and the clean horizontal line of wood and metal makes this an easy, modern one to give. Because each wood has its own grain, no two bars are exactly alike.
Gives back: every order plants 2 trees, recovers 6 ocean-bound plastic bottles, and protects 20 bees through Greenspark.
Symmetry with depth. The Layered Lotus translates a lotus flower into stacked laser-cut hardwood, each petal layer cut and assembled by hand into a clean, balanced silhouette that frames the grain evenly across the face.
Materials and craft
I cut each layer from solid exotic hardwood and stack them into a centered, three-dimensional bloom, then finish it with food-safe oil and beeswax and hand-check the finished piece. Because the lotus is symmetrical, the grain patterns frame evenly from the center out. Made in my one-person studio in Hamilton, Ohio.

Real depth, layer by layer. The Layered Dahlia Rosette is built from stacked laser-cut hardwood tiers, each petal layer cut and assembled by hand, so light plays across the grain at different angles as you move.
Materials and craft
I cut each tier from solid exotic hardwood and stack them into a three-dimensional bloom, then finish it with food-safe oil and beeswax and hand-check the finished piece. Because the grain direction shifts between tiers, the design reads with real complexity. Made in my one-person studio in Hamilton, Ohio.

A flower cut from the grain. The Sunburst Chrysanthemum radiates in fine petal layers, and because it is cut from a single piece of hardwood, the wood's natural lines run straight through the bloom and catch light from every angle.
Materials and craft
I precision laser-cut each brooch from sustainably sourced exotic hardwood, then finish it with food-safe oil and beeswax and hand-check it. Every wood has its own grain and color, so no two are identical. Made in my one-person studio in Hamilton, Ohio.

A starburst that breaks the mold. Where the rest of my brooch collection leans floral and symmetrical, the Starburst Cloud runs organic, with flowing edges around a bright central burst that reads differently depending on the wood and the light.
Materials and craft
I laser-cut each brooch from a single piece of solid exotic hardwood, then finish it with food-safe oil and beeswax and hand-check it before it ships. The open, organic shape puts the grain front and center, so high-contrast woods like zebrawood and tigerwood come out especially dramatic. Made in my one-person studio in Hamilton, Ohio.

Bold stripes. Zero subtlety.
Canarywood is a South American hardwood known for its dramatic striped grain pattern. Each piece shows bands of yellow, orange, red-brown, and tan that look almost painted. It is one of the most visually striking species in the shop.
The wood is moderately dense with a fine texture that sands to a smooth, lustrous finish. It holds detail well under the laser and responds beautifully to the oil-and-wax finish, which deepens the contrast between the light and dark bands.
