Purpleheart is a tropical hardwood from Central and South America that turns a vivid, saturated purple when exposed to light after cutting. No dye. No stain. Just chemistry and sunlight doing their thing.
The color deepens over the first few days after finishing and eventually settles into a rich eggplant tone. It is one of the densest, hardest woods in the shop, which means it sands to an incredibly smooth surface and holds fine detail well.
